Youth Archery
Max Kranz: 2011 Youth Archery Class drawing winner of the Youth Archery Package
South Forty had another great year with it's Youth Archery classes. This year South Forty taught 3 beginner classes and one intermediate class. The intermediate class was designed for youths with their own equipment and some experience but needing a level of instruction beyond the beginner level to continue to develop.
The Club had 48 youths attend its beginner class. Another 19 youths participated in the intermediate class. The youths that participated in the beginner class were entered to win a youth archery package which included a new compound bow, arrows and a case. The lucky winner of the Youth Archery package was Mark Kranz. Youth's that attended to intermediate level class were entered in a drawing for a Rinehart 18 in 1 target. Congratulations to Morgan Wendt, the winner of the Rinehart target.
Zachery Nelson: 2010 Drawing Winner of the donated Youth Archery Package
Youth archery lessons are sponsored each year by the South Forty Archers. Youths will be taught by certified instructors on the proper safety aspects of archery and the technical usage of archery equipment. The South Forty Archers will supply a bow for you (indicate if the youth is right or left handed) or you may bring your own equipment. Leasons are availabe for youths ages 9 through 17. All youths completing the archery class will receive a one year membership for 2010.
There were a total of 56 youths in the 4 classes taught in 2010. Some of the 2010 students were also enrolled in one of our 2009 classes. A South 40 member (Kent Zimmerman) donated a youth bow with acessories to be given away to one of our students. After completion of all classes, Zachary Nelson was drawn from the list of eligible student. Zachary was enrolled in both our June 7 pm and July 7 pm classes. The bow was presented to Zachery by Kent Zimmerman at the South Forty September meeting.
For 2011, both June classes and the July 5PM class are "Beginner" classes. South Forty will supply equipment for these classes if the youths do not have there own archery equipment. The July 7PM class is for "Intermediate" level shooters. The Intermediate Class will work to increase knowledge and understanding of how to use your archery equipment. The primary goal is to increase each individuals confidence and shooting ability. Participants must have completed a beginner archery class or have basic knowledge/understanding of archery equipment and safety. Each student must have their own archery equipment, excluding targets.
